Bay Windows Bring the Garden into Your Home – And Make it Better Inside

If, like us, you were moving into a new (older) home after the family grew in size, there are many considerations such as repairs to existing parts and replacement where you feel that the existing feel of the property is not quite right for you.

We loved the general layout of our house but felt that the downstairs windows in particular deserved our initial attention. We were the proud owners of a lovely new garden but felt that the view from inside didn’t enhance this. We wanted a better view and also wanted to create more space – or at least the illusion of that – in our main living room area.

We researched both bay and bow windows discovering the difference is mainly in shape and the number of panels and that the Marvin Bay window was a winner by a distance.

The installation was professional and thankfully kept dust and inconvenience (because it was quicker than we initially anticipated) to a minimum.

The Results

My wife was really pleased that the change to the facade of the house was not altered in any dramatic way. In fact, she really liked the aesthetics of a bay window and didn’t feel that it detracted from the overall look, quite the opposite.

Benefits

The benefits of the installation, as we had hoped, were threefold.

Firstly a bay window lets in much more light and has added to the feel of the living room as a lighter, airier space when before, if I have to admit it, it was pokier than I’d have liked.

Secondly, it gave us a tremendously more panoramic view of the garden from inside, kind of bringing the outside inside if you know what I mean. The garden at our home is such a great feature that accomplishing this was a priority.

Thirdly it created that extra space within the property – a space where my wife loves to sit and read or where the kids do their homework chores in good light. The contented smile on their faces makes me feel that not just the move but the alterations we are still having done are worth the expense.

In conclusion, look for companies with good reviews, of course, ones that use the best products and ones that offer good warranties meaning you won’t have to think about anything but cleaning your windows for decades to come!
