Today, there is more than just one streaming service available. The most popular ones are Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV, and Hulu. These streaming platforms have introduced entertainment in a more convenient way.
And, how’s that so? Well, as long as you have access to the internet, you can stream your favorite shows or movies on your smartphone or tablet when on the go. You no longer have to be in front of your TV to access your streaming account.
However, you do need high-speed internet if you want to stream at home, especially in HD. If you are looking for a reliable and fast internet connection, you should check out Xfinity Internet. Also, Xfinity TV now offers Xfinity YouTube TV, through which you can enjoy a wide range of content and amazing features that will keep you hooked!
Anyway, how do you know which streaming platform is the best choice? You might be considering Netflix or Amazon Prime. But, have you perhaps considered trying Hulu for once? Although it’s not as popular as the others, it really is quite great in its own way.
Therefore, in this article, we will be sharing everything you need to know about Hulu before getting a subscription.
Let’s get started!
What is Hulu?
Hulu, just like Netflix, is a streaming service that shows TV shows that were broadcast not too long ago. It now also offers its own production, movies, and live TV.
Hulu used to offer free content in the past, but now it only offers this if you have it in its trial plan. However, if you are looking for a platform to watch free shows and movies, there are still a couple of websites offering them, just not Hulu.
Hulu allows its users to access their accounts through various devices and screens. In addition, an additional number of five people can use your account by creating their own profiles. If you didn’t know, every profile is separate from the other, and it won’t cost you any additional fees.
Your profile will store your viewing history and recommend shows and movies that fit your taste. In fact, you can even create kid-friendly profiles, where only kids-rates programs will be accessible.
You get to enjoy shows from Disney, Showtime, Fox, Animal Planets, BBC America, and whatnot on Hulu itself.
How Much Does Hulu Cost?
Just to reiterate, Hulu is not free. It is essential that you purchase one of its plans. You also have the option to certain content if it’s not part of your plan but at an additional cost.
Hulu offers three plans, one with ads, and the other two without ads. Hulu also offers three bundle deals. Here are all of Hulu’s plans:
Hulu Base Plan | Ads | Price* |
Hulu | Yes | $7.99/mo. with the first month free |
Hulu (No Adds) | No | $14.99/mo. with the first month free |
Hulu + Live TV (Includes Disney+ and ESPN+) | No | $69.99/mo. with the first month free |
Hulu Bundle Deal | Ads | Price* |
Disney Bundle Duo Basic | Yes | $9.99/mo. |
Disney Bundle Trio Basic | Yes | $12.99/mo. |
Disney Bundle Trio Premium | Yes, but not ads when watching Hulu Originals and Disney+ | $19.99/mo. |
If you don’t mind ads, then Hulu’s basic plan with ads is a great option as it only costs $79.90 per month for its first month. However, if you are a Disney fan, and do not want to waste time on ads, you can consider Hulu + Live TV or the Disney Bundle Trio Premium.
Can You Download Shows and Movies on Hulu?
Here’s the good news. You can indeed download movies and shows from Hulu. That said, this option is only available on Hulu’s ad-free subscription.
If you tend to travel a lot and need entertainment on the go, you can download from Hulu and you won’t need to rely on your mobile data or waste it, as the downloads can be accessed without the need for an internet connection.
Does Hulu Have Any Downsides?
Although Hulu does offer a variety of shows, you might not be able to find specific episodes, unless it’s an ongoing show. Moreover, there is a limited capacity for downloading. Hulu’s plan might be confusing as well, but we did share them in great detail.
Other than that, Hulu is a fine streaming service to consider!
All in All
Unlike Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, Hulu is not readily available in many countries. You can of course use a VPN to access it, but that won’t make it as convenient as other readily available streaming platforms.
However, we do believe Hulu will expand its coverage as demand grows. But, if you are in the U.S., Hulu is a great choice, especially if you are a Disney fan. It does offer basic plans and bundle deals that have Disney+ in it!
