Northwestern Philosophy awarded Mellon Foundation grant in Social Epistemology

The “social epistemology” group in the Northwestern Philosophy Department (Sandy Goldberg, Jennifer Lackey, and Fabrizio Cariani), together with two non-philosophy colleagues at Northwestern (Steven Epstein, Sociology; Uri Wilensky, Computer Science, Learning Sciences, and Northwestern Institute on Complex Systems), have just received a $175,000 award from the Mellon Foundation to host a year-long Sawyer Seminar on the topic “What Do We Know? Theoretical Issues in Social Epistemology.” This will enable us to hire a postdoc in Social Epistemology for AY 2014-15, as well as to hold various events and conferences during that year.   We will post these as they develop.
